Edge Velocity and Ekahau Form Alliance

June 18, 2013

The joint initiative will work to expand real-time tracking applications in secure wireless networking and incident management applications for first responders, transportation systems, and other mission-critical applications.

SALEM, /PRNewswire/ -- Edge Velocity Corp. and Ekahau Inc. announced a technology and business initiative to expand real-time tracking applications in secure, wireless communication networks. Working under a grant from the Federal Transit Administration, the two companies recently developed and implemented real-time, underground mobile tracking solutions for an East Coast urban transit authority. They also completed a successful application for tracking first responder locations in high-rise buildings using Wi-Fi networks. Under their strategic alliance, the companies will jointly pursue secure wireless communications and incident management applications for first responders, transportation systems and other mission-critical applications.

Edge Velocity's technology uniquely enables the rapid, automatic establishment of an IP-based wireless communications service that reaches high-angle aerial, underground, deep in-building and externally located vehicles, responders, and supporting entities. Edge Velocity networks deploy immediately and easily to create secure, self-forming, self-healing wireless broadband mesh networks, with real-time IP-based voice, video, and data services. In addition to rapid communications, Edge Velocity offers a high-speed vehicle solution that establishes and maintains a multi-service network connection to fixed infrastructure towers, as well as ad hoc communications among moving vehicles, without high bandwidth loss or performance degradation.

Ekahau mapping software overlays the data relayed from man-portable and vehicular sensors across the Edge Velocity network and correlates the data to graphically represent the data sensor positions, including the proximity to known streets and boundaries. This correlation of the actual location with the known location of each Edge Velocity mobile network node enables the real-time tracking of moving resources with great precision, vastly improving the timeliness, safety, and effectiveness of incident management.

Edge Velocity's suite of patented and patent-pending technologies enables it to design, customize, and modify solutions for client-specific applications. Through its flexible software code and configurable hardware elements, Edge Velocity provides the customization needed to support each client's unique environment, including fixed networks and cloud computing infrastructures.

"The combination of Ekahau sensor location technology and Edge Velocity's robust wireless networking system offers the potential of dramatically improving the safety of first responders and mass transportation systems. Edge Velocity is pleased to work even closer with Ekahau to develop innovative solutions for crisis communications and incident management," said Paula C. Beauregard, CEO of Edge Velocity.
