An IoT Ecosystem to Move Complex Products Quickly to Market

An IoT Ecosystem to Move Complex Products Quickly to Market and Beat the Competition

By NimbeLink

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a powerful emerging technology, turning isolated devices into nodes on sophisticated decision-making networks. It is eliminating costly truck rolls and enabling faster, smarter decisions. IoT networks are scalable as never before and virtually unlimited in geographic coverage. As they link sensors, processors and active devices, they are enabling new applications, creating new industries, and generating enormous profits. Competition is, and will continue to be intense, and the winners will be those companies that can overcome the enormous challenges, surmount complexities, and bring innovative products quickly and successfully to market. Few companies, if any, will be able to address the challenges alone.

Even a relatively simple IoT application may entail sensors, processors, networking, software, manufacturing, centralized control systems, and more. Few companies have, or can easily pull together, that full range of capabilities. A far more effective approach is to work with partners in an established “IoT ecosystem,” a collection of tested and proven partners with expertise in the various areas that make up a successful implementation.

An IoT Ecosystem

For companies that are relatively new to the exploding IoT market, the best and quickest way to access an IoT ecosystem is to deal with partners that have already established all or part of the ecosystem they need to carry an innovative application from concept to market. Many ventures into emerging markets fail or fall short of their goals precisely because of the number of unknowns and lack of readily available expertise. A recent survey by Cisco concludes that successful entrants into the IoT market are those that engage early with an IoT partner ecosystem.

Recognizing the value of an ecosystem approach to application development, the Sensors Midwest Show in partnership with NimbeLink has dedicated a full section to “IoT Ecosystem,” complete with nine presentations and panels and connectivity partners. NimbeLink has been a successful provider of cellular IoT connectivity solutions.

The Ecosystem Track

NimbeLink will be moderating the keynote panel for the ecosystem track—Transforming Your Business to Better Serve the Market—on Tuesday, October 3rd from 8:30 to 8:55 AM. NimbeLink will also be participating in some of the presentations that make up the two-day track. Attendees can expect to learn specifics of IoT development, various aspects of the ecosystem approach to IoT development and more generally, how a system of ecosystem partnerships apply to a complex development process.

The Sensors Expo Ecosystem Track

Along with NimbeLink, several partners including Sequans, Taoglas, Anaren, Optconnect and Brehm & Associates will round out the two-day track. Detailed information on the Sensors Expo Ecosystem Track presentations can be found at: http://nimbelink.com/event/sensors-expo/

NimbeLink will be in booth #605 with a LIVE LTE M demo and a demo of NimbeLink’s “Asset Tracking SolutionLIVE across the USA. Based on LTE M Technology, the Asset Tracker has accelerometer, temperature, and GPS sensors.

“Our ecosystem has been vital to development of our products and enabled NimbeLink and our customers to move quickly to market with fully realized products,” says NimbeLink CEO Scott Schwalbe. “They provide a full range of the specialize components and capabilities that we and our customers need along with ready access to knowledge and skills to innovate and stay on the leading edge of this fast-developing technology.“

Skywire Asset Tracker

Utilizing the company’s IoT ecosystem NimbeLink has designed and built the Skywire Asset Tracker, a powerful tracking tool that can be attached to fixed or mobile equipment and material, run without external power or charge, and be readily accessed over the cellular network to identify location in real time. But aside from the capabilities of the device itself, it is a product that owes its existence to a well-developed IoT ecosystem. The Asset Tracker will be available for inspection along with the Cat M1 modem in Booth #1242. NimbeLink staffers will be available to answer questions regarding Skywire products, the company’s IoT Ecosystem, and visitors’ specific applications and needs. We look forward to seeing you at the show and at IoT Ecosystem Track presentations.
