Stanford to Host MEMS Technology Summit

The two-day event will provide a unique perspective on MEMS research and commercialization and offer a vision of future development.

Stanford, CA -- The Stanford University campus will provide a beautiful backdrop for the MEMS Technology Summit, which will take place on October 18–20, 2010. The conference will feature a unique mix of leading worldwide experts who will share their extensive experience and review from today's perspective the critical academic and commercialization developments of the past and offer personal insights into future directions. The program content will provide attendees with valuable lessons to be used as stepping stones to the future success of MEMS. The event, which will lead off with a networking cocktail party reception, will have over 30 speakers over the two-day program that will represent the "Who's Who" of the international MEMS community. In addition to the featured speakers, a number of panel discussions are planned, including "Monetizing MEMS," which will conclude the program. Tours of Stanford Laboratories and networking evenings, including a co-sponsored event with the Bay Area MEMS Networking Group, compliment the high-energy and fun-filled schedule.

Dr. Janusz Bryzek, one of the conference organizers, said, "We conceived the MEMS Technology Summit in part to help celebrate the 25th. Anniversary of the founding of NovaSensor, a pioneer in the commercialization of MEMS, of which its founding team represents the event's organizing committee. All of the speakers have been personally invited by the organizing committee and are true MEMS success stories. Additionally, the topics that they will address tightly integrate into the theme… "Lessons Learned and Future Visions of MEMS." Dr. Bryzek added, "They are battle-scarred and street-smart veterans, who have made and continue to make significant contributions to MEMS technology and commercialization progress. Their primary objective will be to share the results of their extensive experience of their MEMS research and development pain and success in the past and to help attendees accelerate success in future MEMS endeavors."

Keynote speakers confirmed to date include Professor Kensal (Ken) Wise of the University of Michigan, Professor Tom Kenny of Stanford University, Dr. Ken Gabriel of DARPA, Professor Emeritus Stephen Senturia of MIT, Professor Emeritus Richard Muller of the University of California Berkeley, and Dr. Jiri Marek of Bosch (Germany). The organizers have gone to great lengths to provide interesting and useful content for the attendees and to deliver it in a highly concentrated and tightly integrated program that is expected to provide attendees with valuable insights into how to and how not to create and manage successful MEMS programs. Extensive network opportunities have been scheduled in a beautiful venue of the Stanford Campus at a lovely time of the year.
