Sensors Expands BOSE Awards Program

March 6, 2013

The 2013 “Best of Sensors Expo Awards” will focus on applications, innovations, and excellence among engineers in the world of sensors.

NEWTON, MA -- Sensors magazine, the leading technical resource for sensing, communication, and control, has announced an expansion of the 2013 "Best of Sensors Expo Awards." The 2013 awards will focus on applications and innovations in the world of sensors, as well as excellence among engineers. Sensors Expo and Conference will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL on June 4–6, 2013, with the awards being presented on Tuesday, June 5th.

"In previous years, the requirements for the BOSE Awards involved the timeliness and availability, distinctiveness, potential impact, and application of products showcased by exhibitors on the show floor," said Wendy Loew, Event Director. "This year the overall Sensors Expo event is focused on sensing technologies driving tomorrow's solutions, and as one of the world's largest and most important gatherings of engineers and scientists involved in the development and deployment of sensor systems what better way to recognize their achievement than with a refreshed award program."

The new categories for the 2013 Best of Sensors Expo Awards are:

  • Innovation Award. This award seeks to recognize advances in sensor and sensor-related technologies, either in the form of novel technologies or as significant improvements in existing technologies. Nominated technologies should meet the requirement for distinctiveness, potential impact, and application. Click here to submit.
  • Application Award. This award is for sensor applications, whether commercial or experimental. The goal is to recognize sensor use in the wider world. Nominated applications should use sensors, must be distinctive, must have the potential to change the way people work, and must serve a real need. Click here to submit.
  • Engineers of the Year Award. This award is intended to recognize engineering teams working within the sensor industry. Winners must have provided an outstanding contribution to the sensors industry, either through the development of sensor technology or by its application to address real-world problems. Click here to submit.
  • Rising Star Award. This distinction is intended to recognize a young engineer who is active within the sensors industry and has already contributed to advancing sensor technology or sensor applications. Click here to submit.

The 2013 Nomination process is now open. Visit the magazine's Web site for details and to submit today. The deadline for entries is April 5, 2013. Best of Sensors Expo award winners will be featured on the Sensors Expo and Sensors magazine Web sites.
