We're mere weeks away from Sensors Expo 2013 and I thought I'd take this opportunity to call out some of the particularly exciting offerings that are new for 2013. This year we welcome ARM, Appliance Design, Advantage Business Media, Gases & Instrumentation, and Evaluation Engineering who join the MEMS Industry Group as our collaboration partners. In addition, this year the RTC Group will be launching its Intelligent Systems Conference & Pavilion (ISCP) on the show floor. And, finally, the IPSO Alliance will be introducing its first global IP Innovation Challenge for the next generation Internet of Things (IoT).
Cutting-Edge, Relevant Sensing Education
As the sensor industry continues its rapid growth, our collaboration partners are key elements to providing the best, cutting-edge sensing education to our attendees. Whether it's cutting-edge sensor applications; sensors for gas and chemical detection, the Smart Grid, medical, automotive, or industrial applications; consumer electronics; or emerging technologies such as energy harvesting, Big Data, and the IoT, our conference program has you covered.
On Tuesday, June 4, we have day-long preconference symposia on the topics of MEMS Sensor Fusion, courtesy of the MEMS Industry Group; Energy Harvesting for Powering Wireless Sensor Networks, courtesy of Randy Frank and Associates; and Sensors as a Service at the Edge of the Internet of Things (IoT), courtesy of ARM.
Whether it's in the conference program or on the expo floor, our partners are providing the information you need. Within the conference program, Appliance Design magazine has organized a panel discussion on the Smart Grid and it's evolution and potential impact. Meanwhile, Advantage Business Media is the Track Chair for the Cutting-Edge Sensing Applications & Innovations and Remote Monitoring tracks. ABM's publication ECN, is sponsoring specific sessions on gaming design, automotive sensor electronics, and smart sensor technology. Medical Design Technology is sponsoring a session on sensors in healthcare, while Product Design & Development is sponsoring sessions on sensors in automotive, sensors as a source of actionable business data, and smart sensor technology for mobile applications. Wireless Design & Development is sponsoring sessions on cloud computing for sensor data and wireless sensors for harsh environments.
Evaluation Engineering is the Track chair for Novel Approaches to Measurement & Detection track; Gases & Instrumentation is the Track chair for Gas Sensing; and the MEMS Industry Group is the chair for the MEMS Track.
Embedded Systems and the IoT
As embedded systems and M2M communication become both more complex and more intelligent, the interplay between sensors and the embedded systems becomes more important. To aid this synergy, The RTC group is launching its Intelligent Systems Conference and Pavilion co-located with Sensors Expo.
As if that isn't exciting enough, the IPSO Alliance is sponsoring the IoT Pavilion on the expo show floor and is launching its inaugural IPSO Challenge on Thursday, June 6. The competition intends to showcase innovations in the use of IP in sensor/control and M2M applications that enable the IoT.
Mark your calendars, check your travel arrangements, and get ready for Sensors Expo 2013!
