SCARA Meets Industrial Cost Concerns

Epson Robots expands its line of industrial Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm (SCARA) robots with the T-Series all-in-one robots with built-in controller. The integration feature reduces space requirements while easing setup. First in the series, the T3 performs simple applications such as pick and place, assembly, parts handling, and dispensing applications in industries ranging from automotive and medical development, to lab automation, consumer electronics, electronic components and industrial.

Featuring a built-in controller housed in its base, the robot runs at 110 V or 220 V and requires no battery, reducing factory downtime for maintenance. It is said to fit seamlessly into an automation workflow and requires less time and money for system integration than comparable solutions. Unlike linear slide-based systems, T3 installs in minutes, unlike complex linear slide-based systems.

An optional vision guidance function is available should the application require vision capabilities. A wide variety of communication and I/O options are also available. These include support for Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and CC-Link fieldbus interfaces, as well as GUI Builder and other integrated options to help reduce total development time.

Other features include a small and lightweight footprint that consumes little space while providing a large work envelope. Epson's existing lineup of 3-kg payload industrial SCARA robots includes the G-Series, RS-Series, and LS-Series. The G-Series robots are noted for speed, precision, and low vibration, the RS-Series robots are mounted overhead and provide maximum work envelope usage with a unique arm design, and the LS-Series robots offer high performance at a low cost.
