The LS7566R from LSI Computer Systems Inc., Melville, NY, is an incremental encoder interface IC that extracts position data from the quadrature outputs of up to 4 encoder units. The input quadrature clocks from encoders are digitally filtered. Each input channel features a 24-bit up/down counter, 24-bit input register and 24-bit comparator for target position, 24-bit output register, 4-bit shared global interrupt mask register, and 2 control registers.
