CyberOptics Enhances Automated Optical-Inspection Platform

MINNEAPOLIS /BUSINESS WIRE/ -- CyberOptics Corp. announced that it debuted its next-generation Flex Ultra HR automated optical-inspection (AOI) system at the APEX 2007 trade show last week in Los Angeles.

Introduced in early 2006, the initial Flex Ultra system, which CyberOptics is continuing to market, inspects for missing or misplaced 0201 and larger circuit-board components, solder-joint quality, and other circuit-board defects.

The new Flex Ultra HR is capable of inspecting down to 01005 components. With 5.0 megapixel camera technology, the new system also offers users a 40% improvement in imaging resolution over the Flex Ultra. The inspection speeds of both AOI systems are among the fastest in the industry.

Flex Ultra has been one of CyberOptics' most successful product launches in recent history. Applications for the system include production lines assembling printed circuit boards for the memory, notebook PC, and automotive industries.
