Belgocontrol Chooses Aviation Information Systems

June 2, 2010

Telvent's integrated aviation solutions will be used for terminal and weather information in Belgium.

ROCKVILLE, MD -- (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent (Nasdaq:TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced it will provide a new aviation information system at Antwerp airport for Belgocontrol, the autonomous public company in charge of the safety of air traffic in the civil airspace for which the Belgian State is responsible.

Belgocontrol will rely on Telvent's Automated Terminal Information System (ATIS) for information relating to terminal area operations. This new system will be integrated within the existing D-ATIS/VOLMET systems already installed at Brussels International (Zaventem), Charleroi, Liège and Ostend airports, which were provided by Telvent as well. In addition, Belgocontrol is also using Telvent's Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) to obtain weather information critical to flight operations at the main Belgian airports. These technologies allow Belgocontrol to guarantee the safety of air navigation in the controlled civil airspace above Belgium and the grand duchy of Luxembourg for which Belgium is responsible, as well as at the five Belgian public airports.

"We are pleased to continue this long-term partnership that provides Belgocontrol the benefits of our integrated aviation solutions," said Ignacio Gonzalez, Telvent CEO. "Our aviation systems employ advanced technology to gather, process and distribute accurate information essential to air traffic safety and operations."

Airports across the world, both civil and military, use Telvent's technology to receive and distribute accurate, reliable weather information. Its advanced aviation information system combines the company's vast experience in weather monitoring, observation and forecasting, with its real-time data communications expertise to ensure that airport safety and capacity are continuously at their peak.
